Christmas Eve, 2008, just a few hours before heading to the annual Javier celebration, Chris asked if we could exchange gifts and I jumped right at the idea! I sat on the couch closest to the tree while he knelt on the floor. I didn't think anything of it as he was going through all the gifts looking for his name. He looked at me and said that he didn't get me anything for Christmas and I didn't think anything of it since he already gave me Garmin GPS a few weeks before. All of a sudden, he's digging into the branches of the tree and pulls out a small box. I thought it was earrings or a necklace... but low and behold, it was bright and beautiful engagement ring (with lots of diamonds!).
"Is this a friendship ring?" were the first silly words out of my mouth. We laughed and he asked, "Will you marry me?" After a few moments of sobbing and laughter, he asked again to reassure I was saying YES... and of course it was a YES!
We called our parents right away to get their blessings, and they were all just as shocked and happy as me. We had a blast sharing the news with all our family and friends! There was a lot of screaming and tears, and we loved every moment of it! We've been so blessed to have all of our friends and family's support throughout the years. We've truly enjoyed being married these past few months and we are looking forward to a bright and blessed future as one.
